ENROLMENT

Enrolment Process

If you are considering enrolling your child at our kura, we recommend making an appointment to discuss what our procedure involves and support you with the enrolment process.

Parents are able to pre-enrol future students at Awapuni School using our online form.

This helps to prepare us for your child's expected start date and ensures we have everything in place for an easy transition into the classroom and our school community. Before your child's first day, the school office will be in contact with you to walk you through the official enrolment process and answer any queries you might have.

The following supporting documents are required for enrolment and must be provided:

  • NZ Birth Certificate / Passport or;

    • Immigration documents: Student visa/NZ Residency Permit (if the child is not a NZ citizen)

  • Immunisation Certificate (found in the back of your Well Child book or request a copy from your family doctor)

  • A copy of any Court Order Documents (if applicable)

Please be aware that enrolment confirmation will only be given once all the required paperwork has been received.

New Entrant School Visits

If your child will be starting school for the first time, we suggest contacting the school office at least 6 weeks before their 5th birthday to arrange dates for school visits.

We strongly recommend having at least 3 visits. This will allow tamariki enough time to familiarise with the classroom environment, get to know their teacher and peers, and settle into the routines of a normal school day.

VISIT TIMES:

  1.   8:45 am - 10:50 am       (Morning only)

  2.   8:45 am - 10:50 am       (Morning only)

  3.   8:45 am - 1:10 pm         (Half day)

Mihi Whakatau / Pōwhiri (Formal Welcome)

  • This is held on a Friday afternoon at 2:30pm, prior to their first day on the following Monday.

  • Students that are joining us after the school holiday break will have their Mihi Whakatau on the first day of term at 9:00am.

  • On the arranged day, please come to the office to let us know you are here at least 10 minutes before we start.
